BET International has announced that My5, Channel 5’s on-demand streaming platform, will be the official home of BET UK as it transitions to a digital-first brand on April 8th in the UK.

The global brand will also launch a dedicated BET channel on Pluto TV in the UK on April 5th, following recent launches in Brazil and France. In addition to featuring a pipeline of BET US content on the free streaming services, BET UK will roll out a new slate of local UK originals including Celebrity Comfort Food, and social first series Black to the Future (working title) and We Do That, with more news to come. The brand also announced BET Amplifind UK which will showcase up and coming musical talent in the UK.

“We are committed to growing the BET brand in the UK, and to continuing to elevate Black love, joy, power and pride worldwide,” said Monde Twala, SVP of BET International.  “BET is an authentic destination for Black culture globally and we are certain this move will strengthen the brand presence in the UK as we super-serve lovers of Black culture with rich and diverse content across our streaming services.”

We want to shine a light on Black British culture and excellence while spotlighting a range of talented voices, storytellers and creatives.  By investing in local content and focusing our UK future on streaming, we can connect with a larger base of fans in a deeper, authentic and more meaningful way,” Twala added.
