Sky Creative’s dedicated News Design team, which works directly with the Sky News broadcast and editorial teams across design and innovation, has delivered the final output for The Daily Climate Show. As Sky’s in-house advertising and creative agency and the largest in-house agency in Europe, Sky Creative has been responsible for delivering a brand new programme identity, comprehensive graphics package and a state-of-the-art augmented reality studio set in the heart of Sky’s West London headquarters.
The Daily Climate Show is a brand new, 15-minute programme format developed by Sky News that aims to highlight the immediate threat of global warning on the planet.
Following on from the success of Sky News’ augmented reality integrations across the coverage of both the UK General Elections in 2019 and the US Presidential Elections in December last year, Sky Creative were tasked with the first virtual studio for Sky News. Built exclusively using Unreal Engine 4, the set is a digital overlay set against the backdrop of the Sky campus’ hub building’s central atrium, a space that is ordinarily used as communal space for Sky employees.
Ceri Sampson, Sky Creative’s Executive Creative Director, Design, commented: “This is a typical example of how the breadth of skills within Sky Creative’s design team collaborate to produce ground breaking work. Brand identities is something that we have long specialised in but when you add to that the know-how of our Creative Innovation team, the end result is something that we are very proud of.”
Sky Creative’ News Design team’s Creative Director, Harry Ward added: “We have created fresh new programme identity, studio and graphics package, built around ever-changing data and statistics designed to highlight the immediacy of the global warming problem. It’s great to be a part of an organisation that is serious about covering the Climate story with a daily programme, designed to reach audiences on all platforms”.
“It’s great that Sky News shared our drive and ambition to deliver a fantastic new virtual studio and for such an important topic, they backed us by upgrading their current virtual studio to Unreal, which gave us the opportunity to push the boundaries and create an amazing space. The team also worked closely with Sky’s Graphics & Data team to deliver the engaging live data, which is used within the broadcast design and virtual studio,” concluded Sky Creative’s Creative Director, Innovation, Jason Landau.
