RIP Laszlo Zoltan, CEO, DVEO

TV/OTT equipment supplier DVEO has announced the passing of CEO Laszlo (Les) Zoltan following a short illness at the age of 73. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and the broader broadcasting / tech community.
A company tribute says:
“Les was deeply passionate about technology, and cultivated an impactful career over several decades. He began exploring his passion for electronics at an early age, and eventually graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Les then began his tech career at Tektronix before enrolling in McGill University’s MBA program. He later went on to high-achieving Marketing and Sales roles at Matrox, AMD, and Intel, fulfilling his dream of living in the United States. After absorbing all the energy and learning afforded to an eager MBA taking part in the formative years of Silicon Valley, Les forged his own entrepreneurial path by founding Computer Modules Inc. (DVEO) in 1982.
Les always remained on the cutting edge of technical innovation, and reinvented himself and his company several times. In recent years, Les spearheaded the creation of a new division at DVEO focused on cloud-based streaming solutions. These pivots epitomized how Les conducted himself and his business, as he was not afraid of risks, and embodied the true meaning of ‘visionary’.
Those of us who have been fortunate enough to have known and worked with Les have lost a dear friend and an inspiration. He leaves behind family and friends that loved and respected him, including the “DVEO Family,” as he affectionately referred to the team he built and prospered with.”
“My father’s legacy will live on with the continuation of this amazing company that he built from the ground up,” said Scott Zoltan, one of Les Zoltan’s sons.
Scott recently stepped away from his role as a Marketing Manager at Mattel to help the DVEO team develop a roadmap for continued operations, and has joined the team as an Interim Vice President.
“My father was a very relationship-based man, and it has been an absolute pleasure to begin connecting with some of the many colleagues, customers and vendors that were part of his orbit in his long, impactful career,” said Scott Zoltan. “I look forward to connecting with even more folks in the industry in coming days, and I encourage anyone who wishes to connect with myself and the rest of the team to reach out. We are forging ahead in this difficult time, and look forward to providing the same innovative products and services DVEO has become known for over the years.”
