Agile Content acquires Fon

April 19, 2021

Agile Content, a provider of digital TV and video delivery solutions, has announced the acquisition of global WiFi solutions provider, Fon Technology (Fon). This marks a further step in Agile Content’s strategy of consolidating the video technology space. Agile Content says the acquisition of Fon comes at a significant period of growth; in addition to technology and expertise investment, it achieved more than 70 per cent organic growth over the last year.

Fon’s software-based solutions and its team of experts empower a global customer base of Tier 1 operators in the telecommunications industry to deliver secure, flexible and scalable carrier-grade WiFi and video services to households. By adding Fon’s technology, Agile Content says it is enhancing the way multimedia is consumed via its B2B2C offering. The integration between Fon’s unique WiFi technology and Agile Content’s TV service offering brings scalable and cost-efficient video solutions for its customers, while also boosting in-house and 5G content delivery innovation.

“The agreement with Fon is designed to deliver value to our customers and their end users, as well as drive growth from a business perspective as we further consolidate our position in the European TV market and telco industry,” said Hernán Scapusio, CEO of Agile Content. “The collaboration between the three companies – Agile Content, Edgeware and now, Fon – advances our B2B2C service strategy. Together, we’re well-positioned to enhance the experience of multimedia consumption in the home technology space, support leading operators, and serve more than 50 million households worldwide with competitive TV services.”

With this acquisition, Agile Content also boosts its monetisation unit with the hire of Alex Puregger, the former CEO of Fon.

Puregger said: “I am excited to encourage the development of Agile Content’s B2B2C offering and integrate Fon within the larger Agile Content family. It gives Fon an environment to grow and collaborate with the best-of-the-best in order to help operators across the video landscape address customers’ evolving needs.”
