AP expands LatAM video offering with addition of LANA content

May 4, 2021

The Associated Press and Latin America News Agency has announced a collaboration that will offer AP clients access to a mix of global and Latin America-focused video stories from LANA.

This addition to AP’s extensive video collection emphasises its commitment to providing quality news video from Latin America to customers in and beyond the region.

“We are excited to be working with LANA to provide additional coverage of Latin America — and the Latin American perspective of global events — to our customers around the world,” said Sara Trohanis, AP vice president for national and LatAm markets. “Latin America has been a key market for The Associated Press for many years. This year, we continue to strengthen our presence by working with notable market leaders to bring additional and unique storytelling to our Spanish-speaking customer base.”

“We are honored that an agency as prestigious as AP thought of Latin America News Agency (LANA) to provide additional coverage of Latin America, and that our content is available to its clients, including the world’s most renowned media,” said Manuel Fonrouge, director of Latin America News Agency. “Our alliance with a leading news agency in the market is a great opportunity to show the work of our agency from a Latin American perspective.”

He added: “This collaboration will allow us to bring our LatAm news coverage and global content to AP clients, allowing us to expand our reach into new markets with quality and reliable content.”

AP clients will have access to LANA-produced video news stories, including content from Spanish-speaking countries. Content will range from breaking and spot news to sports, entertainment and feature stories.

Scripts and metadata will be available in English and Spanish.

LANA video will be available to AP customers on AP Video Hub, AP Archive and AP Newsroom, the news agency’s content delivery platform.

AP Video Hub, AP’s unrivaled video marketplace, includes live channels and third-party content from leading broadcasters, news agencies and digital publishers.

AP Archive offers footage from some of the world’s most important video collections, ranging from hard news to entertainment, people, culture and lifestyle stories, and more. It boasts more than 2 million global video stories dating from 1895 to present.
