DAZN acquires UTS rights in Japan, Canada

May 20, 2021

DAZN, the global sports streaming platform, has partnered with Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) to bring its events to DAZN across Canada and Japan for the first time.

Launched last year, UTS is the world’s newest tennis league that plays a reinvented format and a new set of rules. It is a year-round league created by Patrick Mouratoglou, the coach of tennis star Serena Williams.

DAZN and UTS will offer live and on demand content, featuring exclusive team news, insights, and analysis from the 2021 season that gets underway with UTS4, the first event of the season, taking place at the Mouratoglou Academy in Nice, France, on May 24th and 25th.

UTS introduces a unique format that consists of 40-minute intense matches, a lightened code of conduct, and unique novelties. For instance, UTS cards put a stronger emphasis on strategy, and add to the suspense. Also, live coaching and mid-match interviews allows fans to get inside of the players’ minds, and immerse into their universe.

Norm Lem, SVP Revenue at DAZN Canada, said: “Our partnership with UTS will offer fans an even wider portfolio of live sports. This launch underlines our ongoing commitment to investing in innovation, working with the most exciting new tournament in the world of tennis, to create high-quality original live, on demand and social content to allow fans to enjoy tennis in new ways.”

“We’re pleased to partner with DAZN, one of the world-leading platforms for live and on-demand streaming, in Japan and Canada. UTS is offering something new, fresh, and different – just like DAZN – and we wish to reach out to the largest possible audience” added Patrick Mouratoglou, Founder, UTS.
