Portugal’s SIC sees 32.8% profit hike to €5.5m

Portuguese commercial broadcaster SIC ended the first half of 2021 with a net profit of €5.5 million, up 32.8 per cent on the same period last year.

Total revenues increased 18.9 per cent to €80 million, while EBITDA grew 11.1 per cent to €10 million.

Subscription revenues generated by the eight SIC channels, distributed over cable and satellite, in Portugal and abroad, fell 0.6 per cent to €16.4 million.

Advertising revenues were 22 per cent higher in the same period at €51.7 million.

SIC ended the period January-June as the leading national TV channel with an average audience share of 20.1 per cent (23.7 per cent if the thematic channels are included).

It also achieved a 50.3 per cent market share of advertising investment among the general entertainment channels.

During the first half, SIC’s subscription channels (SIC Notícias, SIC Mulher, SIC k, SIC Radical and SIC Caras) achieved a market share of 3.6 per cent.
