WWE stars reveal favourite streamers and movies

WWE returned to UK shores this month for a full scale, live tour, taking in London, Liverpool, Manchester, Brighton, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham – the entertainment behemoth’s biggest international tour since the pandemic hit.
Advanced-Television spoke to a number of WWE superstars as they descended upon London to find out about their streaming habits when on tour and their favourite content, as well as some of their fondest things about the UK.

What’s your go-to streaming service?
If I get some spare time on a flight I prefer to sleep, but I have Hulu and Amazon.
Have you played Escape The Undertaker on Netflix?
No, but I was in it! Maybe I’ll watch it for homework if there’s a sequel. Will there be a sequel? I’m not sure, but it’s been incredibly well received.
Will you be watching the upcoming docuseries on Vince McMahon?
I’m not sure. Will it be compulsory? Hahaha, I don’t think we’ll all be ordered to watch it!
Favourite Xmas movie?
Home Alone 1 and 2. It’s hard to choose one. But Home Alone 3 doesn’t exist to me.
Favourite Halloween movie?
The Exorcist.
Favourite movie starring The Rock?
Pain and Gain.
Favourite movie starring Batista?
Oh, definitely Guardians of the Galaxy
If you could pick one Brit to be in a tag team with, who would it be?
Tyson Fury. I met him at our Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia and he’s a great character.

What’s your go-to streaming service?
Mainly Netflix… but HBO Max too. Those are my main two. But I’ll watch Disney+ for superhero stuff.
Have you played Escape The Undertaker on Netflix?
Yes, and I played over and over again for hours so that I could see every possible outcome and piece of footage. The Undertaker’s performance really had me smiling and laughing.
Will you be watching the upcoming docuseries on Vince McMahon?
Yes, absolutely. I still love learning anything about wrestling, and anything that helps teach me more about the history of the business, I will absolutely watch. WWE actually released a Vince McMahon documentary on double DVD a long time ago [2006] and I watched it time and time again, and I still sometimes watch it now.
Favourite Xmas movie?
Batman Returns. Does that count?
Favourite Halloween movie?
The Crow.
Favourite movie starring The Rock?
Pain & Gain. That’ a great movie.
Favourite movie starring Batista?
Guardians of the Galaxy.
Finally: If you could pick one Brit to be in a tag team with, who would it be?
Ozzy Osbourne.Big fan.

What’s your go-to streaming service?
Netflix and Disney+. I love a lot of classic Disney movies like Pocahontas and The Aristocats, but one of my huge favourites, and this is probably going to sound really strange, is Aladdin 2.

Hmmm… I can’t think of one.
Will tonight be your first time performing at Wembley?
Yes, and it’s my first ever time just being in Wembley! It might be the biggest crowd I’ve worked in front of too… I was at SummerSlam [in Las Vegas in August] where there was 100,000 in attendance but I didn’t perform. So tonight could be my biggest crowd so far.
If you could pick one Brit to be in a tag team with, who would it be?
Mick Jagger. I think he’d be great to travel with as he’d have some great road stories.

What’s your go-to streaming service?
I dunno if I have a favourite… I tend to watch anything that will help send me to sleep.

No bro.
Will you be watching the upcoming docuseries on Vince McMahon?
I don’t think so. Vince, I know him well, so I think if he wants me to know something about him, he will just tell me.
Favourite Xmas movie?
Oh, The Christmas Story… with the BB gun and he shoots his eye out… that’s a classic.
Favourite Halloween movie?
I really love Evil Dead 2, and the third one Army of Darkness, but that one is a bit more funny and slapstick. For pure horror I’d go with Evil Dead 2.
Favourite movie starring The Rock?
I’m not a huge fan of a lot of The Rock’s movies! What’s that one he did with Stifler [Seann William Scott]? Welcome to the Jungle? Yeah, let’s say that one.
Favourite movie starring Batista?
That recent one with the zombies. Army of the Dead.
Will tonight be your first time performing at Wembley?
It’s my first time here with WWE. I fought here at a UFC event in 2012, and I won! But I was fired soon after.
If you could pick one Brit to be in a tag team with, who would it be?
Can I say a group? I’d go with Monty Python. I think we could do some great backstage skits together, and maybe bring back The Black Knight. It’s just a flesh wound!

The Shining.

Red Notice. Is that even out yet? I’m not sure. But let’s say that one

I dunno.
Will tonight be your first time performing at Wembley?
Yeah I think so. And [referring to his match tonight against Big E for the WWE Championship] I need to win. It changes your life when you have the World title. Big E is a nice guy, but I would stab him in the back to get my title back. Whatever it takes.
If you could pick one Brit to be in a tag team with, who would it be?
Tyson Fury. I’m a big boxing fan. I met him at one of our shows, and he’s a just as wild backstage as he is in front of the cameras.

What’s your go-to streaming service?
I watch a lot of Disney+ but mainly because of my daughter. My wife watches a lot of Netflix. My only real interest in wrestling. I don’t know much about anything apart from wrestling!
Have you played Escape The Undertaker on Netflix?
I haven’t.
Will you be watching the upcoming docuseries on Vince McMahon?
I don’t think I’ll watch that… unless I have to.
Favourite Xmas movie?
I like Elf. And Home Alone.
Favourite Halloween movie?
It’s probably not my favourite, but I’ve watched Mickey’s Tale of Two Witches with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck a lot recently! My daughter and me are very fond of that.

I watched Jungle Cruise recenty. So yeah, let’s say Jungle Cruise.

Yes, I’m so looking forward to it. It’ll be such a proud moment. Bret Hart and The British Bulldog of course wrestled an absolute classic here, so it’s an honour to follow in their footsteps.
If you could pick one Brit to be in a tag team with, who would it be?
Zack Sabre Jr. He’s one of my favourite wrestlers, and one of the best I’ve ever been in the ring with. I think he’s out working in Japan at the moment.
