Aardman create BBC One’s Christmas idents
November 30, 2021
Aardman has created three new exclusive idents for BBC One this Christmas.
The BBC has a long-standing relationship with Aardman and they have created three, special festive scenes that will be seen on screens across the festive period.
Unveiled to the nation on December 4th and produced in collaboration with BBC Creative, the beautifully-crafted scenes are based around a Christmas tree at different times of the day; morning, evening and night. The scenes star some favourites from Shaun the Sheep including Bitzer, The Farmer and the Flock and incorporates some of the slapstick humour that the series is famous for.
The idents have been made to coincide with the half hour special that will be shown on BBC One this Christmas. Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas sees the return of Shaun, Timmy and the Flock – as well as some new characters − for a mischief-filled festive caper set to become an instant Christmas classic.
Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer, BBC, says: “Nothing brings audiences together like Christmas on the BBC, and the star of this year’s BBC’s Christmas idents is also at the heart of our festive family offer, everyone’s favourite animated animal Shaun the Sheep.”
Sean Clarke, Managing Director, Aardman, says: “Aardman and the BBC have a rich history of collaboration and this new series of idents is something we are very proud of. It is doubly satisfying as the scenes will air ahead of the release of the brand-new Shaun the Sheep special, going out on BBC One this Christmas. We hope together these new idents and the return of Shaun will bring extra cheer to families this Christmas.”
The idents were produced at Aardman – Bristol’s multi-award winning independent animation studio whose productions are global in appeal, novel, entertaining, brilliantly characterised and full of charm reflecting the unique talent, energy and personal commitment of the Aardman team.
