Channel 5 commissions Jeremy Vine Extra from ITN Productions

January 17, 2022

Channel 5 has announced the launch of Jeremy Vine Extra – extending the successful Jeremy Vine daily show with even more debate and discussion.

Launching on January 19th, the hour-long Jeremy Vine Extra will follow the main programme at 11.15am every day.

Produced by ITN Productions and hosted by Storm Huntley, it will continue the nation’s liveliest conversation until 12.15pm exploring key themes, great moments and the big stories which emerge earlier in the morning as well as reacting to breaking news – with even more time for viewers to phone in and give their opinions on the stories that matter most to them.

It will have distinct new ‘extra’ angles that will feel fresh and different. Hearing from viewers directly, Jeremy Vine Extra will also amplify the voices of the British people and include them in the debates of the day, both nationally and in their area.

VP Commissioning Editor Daniel Pearl said: “As the only morning news and current affairs programme to hear directly from the public, this extra hour will allow the viewers to have their points of view heard, explored and debated further. Channel 5 has a commitment to bring the news to the UK but also to listen to the voice of the people.”

Ian Rumsey, Managing Director, Television at ITN Productions said: “The news agenda has never been so fast moving, and we are experiencing the highest volume of calls and engagement in the show’s history. We’re delighted to give our viewers even more of a platform to have their say.”

Ian Jones, Editor of Jeremy Vine and Jeremy Vine Extra said: “This extra hour with Storm at the helm will enable us to delve deeper into the big stories of the day and the issues which matter to our audience.”

Jeremy Vine Extra will be broadcast directly after Jeremy Vine for an hour daily (11:15 – 12:15) with the team who currently produce the Jeremy Vine show, led by Editor Ian Jones.
