Agile Content sees revenue growth of 160% in 2021

February 2, 2022

Agile Content, a public company and provider of internet-based TV and streaming solutions, announces successful results for 2021 – becoming a leading provider of neutral video infrastructure in Europe as it executes its mission to consolidate the pay TV and OTT market. Agile Content’s combined B2B2C and B2B strategy is proven effective by its organic and inorganic growth in 2021, driving a revenue increase of 160% YoY, from more than €20 million in 2020 to more than €52 million in 2021, and with a backlog of more than €280 million at the end of 2021.
Agile Content’s organic growth, in combination with its significantly improved EBITDA, reinforces and demonstrates the potential of its strategy to consolidate operations and technology in a fragmented European market. The strategy combines the development and operations of a common shared infrastructure that provides scalability benefits to telcos and video provider partners, while investments in its own technology ensures a competitive TV experience, speed, and flexibility to adapt to a fast-moving market.
The model of owning and investing in technology and award-winning innovations provide a beneficial cost structure and operational advantage. The mergers into a larger company has made it possible to increase R&D investments by more than 60%, improving the competitiveness of the portfolio, while at the same time improving the scale benefits of R&D investments over sales by 30%. This contributed to EBITDA growth – which grew 145% YoY, up to €5 million from €2 million in 2020.
“Our goal is to continue to provide a cost-effective and competitive TV offering for our telecom partners and an attractive end-user proposition that facilitates organic growth,” said Hernan Scapusio, CEO of Agile Content. “By continuing to invest in our award-winning technology, we’ve established a strong foundation for revenue growth to propel our consolidation strategy. Looking to the future, we’ll continue to direct capital towards executing this strategy, making selective investments to fuel scalability.”
From its B2B2C activities, Agile TV reached 710,000 subscribers in December 2021 with more than 43,000* net additions in the last quarter, having acquired the TV business of northern Spanish cable operator Euskaltel in August. As a result, it has elevated its ranking within the top 5 fastest growing pay TV groups in Europe and among the top 30 pay TV groups in Europe for subscriber figures. It achieved 70% recurrent revenue with more than €60 million ARR from December 2021, compared to €14.7 million in December 2020 – up 311% YoY. From its B2B activities, Agile Content now works with 17 of the top 50 telcos worldwide with more than 50 million households now benefitting from its services.
In 2021, Agile Content’s solutions were recognized by leading industry organisations as notable innovations driving the future of television. At the 2021 Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice Awards, Edgeware TV Server took top honors in the Hardware/Software Server category, with Agile OTT and StreamPilot receiving a special commendation in the OTT Video Platform and Analytics/Quality of Service Platform categories. The company also won two Digital Media World Awards with its Cloud Production innovation winning Gold in the Cloud Production category and Agile FAST & VoD2Live taking home Silver in the Playout category.
