Fremantle has announced that it will partner with Samsung to bring American Idol to audiences in the UK. From March 2022, viewers will be able to watch the new season of American Idol exclusively on demand, on the free-to-watch platform, Samsung TV Plus.

Music industry legends and all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie, along with Emmy-winning producer and host Ryan Seacrest, return to help discover America’s next singing sensation for American Idol’s fifth season on ABC and 20th season overall. The talent show will be available on Samsung TVs, mobile phones and tablets through Samsung TV Plus for free.

Richard Jakeman, European Head of Business Development for Samsung TV Plus, said: “American Idol has been a talent show sensation since 2002 with a dedicated global fan base who become invested in the musical journeys of the contestants. We’re delighted to offer our UK audiences exclusive access to this milestone season of American Idol through our service. Samsung TV Plus brings audiences the best entertainment and delivers it on their terms. American Idol 2022 will be available on demand on Samsung TV Plus from March 2nd and also on Samsung’s new Entertainment Hub channel, launching March 10th.”

Jamie Lynn, EVP Co-Production & Distribution, EMEA at Fremantle commented: “It’s great that we are able to work with Samsung TV Plus to celebrate the 20th season of American Idol with a UK audience. This is a show that changed the face of television in so many ways and the innovative way Samsung is reaching new audiences and bringing content to its platforms makes this partnership extra exciting.”

The 19th season of American Idol, recorded and released in 2021 is also coming soon to the platform, so users can enjoy even more episodes and entertainment for all the family.
