Law & Crime acquires rights to Protection Court

March 21, 2022

Live trial and true crime network, Law&Crime, has licensed the rights for primetime airings of Protection Court, a syndicated show from Trifecta Entertainment. The show captures the daily happenings inside one of America’s busiest protection order courts in Dade County, Florida.

Protection Court shows live testimony from some of the most terrifying restraining order cases of Miami-Dade’s Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse, where thousands of victims come to seek court-ordered relief each year. While not every case deals with domestic violence specifically, the show’s live coverage aims to highlight the legal intricacies involved in such dangerous scenarios and the resources available to victims. The courtroom is presided over by Judge Carroll Kelly, the Administrative Judge of the Domestic Violence Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.

“Law&Crime is thrilled to add Protection Court to its primetime lineup,” said Andrew Eisbrouch COO of Law&Crime. “This show highlights an important aspect of our legal system and brings an inside look to viewers.”

“We are thrilled to bring this genuine courtroom drama to Law&Crime Network,” said Hank Cohen, CEO of Trifecta Entertainment. “We hope this show will continue to bring awareness to viewers and educate victims in need that there is help available, that they are not alone, and that the courts are here to protect them.”

Creators of Protection Court cite the extreme prevalence of domestic and intimate partner violence – which affects 1 in 4 women, 1 in 10 men and 1 in 15 children in the United States – as a key motivating factor behind the show.

Coming off its recent launch on Dish, Law&Crime reaches over 27 million cable households in addition to most major OTT platforms. Viewers can watch Protection Court on Law&Crime Network every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9pm ET to 10pm ET (back to back episodes) starting on March 21st.
