Jeremy Vine Extra gets extended run
March 25, 2022
Jeremy Vine Extra from ITN Productions has proved a ratings success for Channel 5 and will continue for an extended six month run following its launch earlier this year.
Jeremy Vine Extra, which sees lively discussions continue directly after the main Jeremy Vine show, has seen a 20 per cent increase in share for Channel 5 across its hour long slot compared with the same period in 2021, and has boosted reach to the show by 31 per cent.
Hosted by Storm Huntley, Jeremy Vine Extra gives more time to viewers to phone in and give their opinions. It also explores the big stories of the day which emerge earlier in the morning, and includes viewers in the varied debates – as well as reacting to breaking news.
VP Commissioning Editor Daniel Pearl said: “We are delighted that the Channel 5 audience has reacted so positively to Jeremy Vine Extra – at a time when the news agenda is so busy, Jeremy Vine Extra has really connected with viewers.”
Ian Rumsey, Managing Director, Television at ITN Productions said: “This extra hour has proved extremely popular, and has boosted engagement with the show. With Storm driving the news agenda for the final hour, we can now hear from more viewers and go into more depth on subjects that matter to our audience.”
Ian Jones, Editor of Jeremy Vine and Jeremy Vine Extra said: “We’re delighted that Jeremy Vine Extra will continue for another six months and that viewing figures for the show are at their highest ever. It’s testament to the strength of our content and our talented presenters – Jeremy & Storm.
