On the heels of the news that Delta Air Lines is in talks with Elon Musk’s Starlink broadband satellite service to supply connectivity to its passengers comes news that one, somewhat smaller, airline has signed up to Starlink.
JSX Air, which describes itself as a “hop on jet service”, says it has signed up to Starlink for fleet which currently comprises 77 of the Embraer 30-seat jets.
“JSX is proud to be the first air carrier to adopt SpaceX Starlink internet inflight, free for every Customer onboard. We’d call it the best Wi-Fi in the sky, but it’s actually the greatest Wi-Fi in the galaxy – coming later this year,” said a JSX press release.
Meanwhile, Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian says his airline is testing Starlink on some of its aircraft. Currently Delta uses Viasat in-flight connectivity on more than 300 aircraft.
