Merapar opens tech hub in the Americas
August 9, 2022
Merapar, an alfa1 company and a specialist in cloud-native solutions, is opening a new technology hub and development centre in the Americas, as the business continues its global expansion. The new American hub will serve existing customers and projects in the region.
The hub marks Merapar’s first location outside of Europe and reflects the growing awareness among major streaming platforms of the role of nearshore agile development centres in helping to grow their market position.
With a team of Merapar experts on the ground in the Americas, customers in both North and South America will benefit from working with system architects and team members in their time zones, thereby ensuring rapid communication and full customer visibility. This hands-on approach is representative of Merapar’s ethos of delivering mission critical cloud native solutions using truly agile practices and delivering results at breakneck speed.
Merapar Americas will be headed up by Jaap Haitsma in Santiago de Chile. Haitsma joins the company as General Manager, Merapar Americas, having previously held the position of CTO at Civolution and NAGRA AntiPiracy, where he was responsible for the development of Emmy award-winning watermarking, fingerprinting and anti-piracy technologies for the media industry.
Erwin Van Dommelen, CEO & Co-Founder, Merapar, an alfa1 company, commented: “The opening of the new hub in the Americas is the logical next step for Merapar as we have a number of customers in the Americas who appreciate our deep media domain knowledge and value our transparent and highly agile practices. We are excited to continue to grow as a company and expand our presence in this important market.
Jaap Haitsma, General Manager, Merapar Americas, added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Merapar at such a profound stage of the company’s growth journey. Our Americas team has extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in the broadcast and media sector, and we have plans to grow this team further by adding several agile development teams. Our new hub in Santiago de Chile will enhance communication and collaboration in the Americas, and we’re excited for what this brings”.
