Netflix: 4 mins of ads for $2 saving?
August 30, 2022
Netflix is said to be planning four minutes of ads an hour for its ‘budget’ version to be released in several territories in Q4.
As belts tighten around the world, Netflix wants to offer a lower cost version in return for viewers tolerating pre-roll and mid-roll breaks. The ‘cheap’ subcription price is forecast as $7-$9 according to a Bloomberg report. If it is set at $8, that’s $2 off the US entry price for the current service at $10.
Netflix stated: “We are still in the early days of deciding how to launch a lower priced, ad supported tier and no decisions have been made.”
Netflix previously said it was working with Microsoft to develop the ad sales on the new subscription plan.
