Memrise partners with DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots

January 18, 2023

Memrise, the language-learning app with more than 65 million users across 189 countries, has announced a partnership with the new DreamWorks Animation feature film, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (in UK cinemas on February 3rd), allowing users who want to learn Spanish engage in language lessons based on the words in the trailer(s) and film.

Native to the app’s pedagogically-sound ‘Learn, Immerse, Communicate’ (L.I.C) method, Memrise is providing users with two unique experiences. The first is a set of creative language lessons based around the new Puss in Boots: The Last Wish trailer(s), and the second is the chance to learn the words necessary to go see the film in theaters – like buying a movie ticket, buying popcorn or finding the bathroom in a foreign language.

Users can even practice the vocabulary they’ve learned with Memrise’s brand-new AI language chatbot called ‘MemBot,’ an on-demand language partner that offers zero judgment towards any mistakes you make, instead providing grammatical corrections and suggested responses if you get stuck – a stepping stone for learners to build up confidence to speak their target language in the real world.

“The best and fastest way to learn a foreign language is to Learn, Immerse and Communicate,” said Steve Toy, CEO of Memrise. “And the only way to do that is through Memrise. We’re thrilled to be partnering with DreamWorks Animation’s new film, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, creating lessons around the famous movie character that will help users build confidence to effectively learn and communicate in an innovative and fun way.”

Memrise is built with a combination of cutting-edge technology and cognitive science that brings your mind to life. By extracting audio and vocabulary from the new Puss in Boots: The Last Wish film and teaching it to users through their ‘Learn-Immerse-Communicate’ method, users will naturally build the skills and confidence necessary for real-world interactions.
