Canal 13 partners with Grabyo

January 24, 2023

Canal 13, the open television broadcaster for Chile, has partnered with cloud video platform Grabyo to increase its social and digital video content offering. With around 90 per cent of the Chilean population using social media, it has become a major channel for broadcasters in the country to reach large audiences. Since January 1st 2023, the organisation has been using Grabyo Studio and Editor, the live clipping and editing tools, to create and publish highlights from a variety of programming, including news, entertainment and flagship novelas.

Canal 13 plans to activate audiences across multiple social media platforms to deliver content in vertical, square and horizontal formats. In the first 12 days of January, the videos published to Facebook have had over 6.4 million impressions and 2.7 million views, reflecting a huge virality and early success.

Video clips will also be distributed to Canal 13’s website via Grabyo’s integration with Amazon S3, which will feed the broadcaster’s content management system.

Grabyo’s software has allowed Canal 13 to improve its workflow and reduce its time to create and deliver content – from 30 minutes to just a few minutes now. This new workflow allows the broadcaster to be more agile and aligned to the expectations of its digital and mobile audiences.

“We have been serving the Latin American region for many years and we are always excited to see our platform support a transformation of traditional broadcast workflows into the cloud,” said Mike Kelley, President of America’s, Grabyo. “Canal 13 is an innovative broadcaster, with a digital-savvy audience. This new focus on digital and social storytelling will help Canal 13 reach and engage a much larger audience, with real-time and relevant content.”

“We are excited to see this partnership drive our digital content capabilities to the next level”, adds Ivan Eyara, Head of Multiplatform Development, Canal 13. “We know that Chilean audiences are increasingly turning to social media and online channels to consume content and look for what to watch next, and we need to get in front of them at the right time and in the right place.”
