WFTV mames women taking part in 2023 4 Nations Mentoring Scheme

Women in Film and TV (UK) has announced the 41 women across the UK who are taking part in its 2023 Four Nations Mentoring Scheme.

This year’s mentors include BBC’s Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore, STV Drama’s Creative Director Sarah Brown, Film Producer Iain Canning, Executive Producer and Head of Drama at Working Title TV Surian Fletcher-Jones, Founder of British Black List Akua Gyamfi, Sound Editor Nina Hartstone, BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip, Production Head and founder of Training Adelina Orfila, Film Producer Tessa Ross, Naked TV Managing Director Fatima Salaria, BBC Head of Drama Lindsay Salt and Waddell Media MD & Executive Producer Jannine Waddell. The scheme is designed for mid-career women working in film, television and creative media looking to take that next big step in their career.

41 mentees have been selected from hundreds of applicants from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to take part in the 2023 programme. The scheme will run for six months, during which time each of the participants are paired up with senior industry professionals for one-to-one mentoring alongside peer-to-peer training and bespoke career and personal development workshops.

Netflix continues its support of the schemes in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales through its Fund for Creative Equity, which is dedicated to helping build new opportunities for underrepresented communities within entertainment.

The England scheme is supported by the BBC, Channel 4, EON Productions, Indigo Talent, Panalux and Panavision, Pinewood Studios, Sara Putt Associates, the Women’s Network at NBC Universal and UKTV.

The 20 English Mentees are: Camera Operator Alice Sephton; VOD Marketing Mgr Cheryl Vaz; Film and TV Editor Charlie Pringle; Drama Producer Claire Russell; Film Composer Daisy Coole; Crew Manager Daisy Stone; Film & TV Agent Emma Obank; Writer/Director Jess Moore; Series Producer Kim Rossiter; Writer/Producer Larissa Miola; Commissioning Assistant Editor Naomi Rose; Drama Dev Producer Nasreen Ahmed; Senior Stunt Performer Rachael Evelyn; Writer Rachel Murrell; Filmmaker / Freelance Journalist Saleya Ahsan; Writer Samia Rida; Writer/Director/Producer and Founder of Inclusivity Films Sarah Leigh; Freelance Journalist Tasnim Nazeer; Director/Writer Veronica McKenzie and Casting Producer Vivian Equridu.

The 7 Northern Ireland Mentees are: Factual producer Ally Thompson; Drama Producer Leon McGeown-Fee; Director & Writer Lisa Keogh; Assistant Camera Lucy Martin; Senior Digital Development Executive Maeve McLoughlin; Production Coordinator Drama Rachel Hull and Costume Designer Zjena Glamocanin.

The 7 Scottish Mentees are: Screenwriter Ali Taylor; Assistant Producer Alice Black; Screenwriter Joanne Sneddon; Digital PD Kath Pick; Creative Producer Leah Carroll; Editor Michelle Lord and Content Creator for Children and Young Audiences Sacha Kyle.

The 7 Welsh Mentees are: Make-up Artist Caroline Evans; Scripted Series Producer Erika Hossington; Dubbing Editor Helen Faulkner; Scripted Producer / Story Consultant Jenny Thompson; Screenwriter Kaite O’Reilly; Self Shooting PD Rosemary Baker and Unscripted Series Producer Jenny Dafydd.

Heading up the scheme is WFTV’s new Director of Mentoring Sarah Wright, former Group Director of Acquisitions and Sky Cinema, UK & ROI. Mentoring Producers Karen Kelly in Scotland, Hannah Corneck in Wales and Sarah McCaffrey in Northern Ireland will continue to run the scheme in their dedicated nations.

Together, with the help of their mentors and the brilliant programme of events that WFTV scheme offers, they will form a diverse and immensely talented cohort to be reckoned with in the industry.”
