You People debuts as Netflix #1 movie

Contemporary rom-com You People, starring Jonah Hill, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Eddie Murphy, debuted at #1 on Netflix’s English Films List in the week starting January 23rd with 55.65 million hours viewed.

Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia held onto the English TV List top spot for a fourth consecutive week with 55.61 million hours viewed. The series now has 486.2 million total hours viewed and nearly 53 million households who have seen the series (486.2 million hours viewed divided by the run time of 9 hours).

Based on a true story, Norwegian military drama Narvik had 37.98 million hours viewed and sat atop the Non-English Films List.

Season 3 of Mexican drama La Reina del Sur continued to captivate audiences, coming in with an additional 37.47 million hours viewed as #1 on the Non-English TV List.

Elsewhere – following its nine Oscar nominations, including for Best Picture –  All Quiet on the Western Front saw 190 per cent increase in viewing over the prior week. The German war drama had 8.17 million hours viewed and was in the top 10 in 33 countries. South Korean sci-fi thriller JUNG\_E, Indian action-adventure Mission Majnu, Norway’s Troll and Italy’s My Name is Vendetta all remained on the list. Italian comedy The Price of Family debuted on the list with 6.34 million hours viewed.

Whodunit sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, family film Dog Gone, thriller A Pale Blue Eye and celebrated tale Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical all returned to the English Films List. Debuting on the list was love story Devotion with 5.9 million hours viewed.

On the English TV side, fans continued to flock to member favourites. Addams Family spin-off Wednesday landed in the #2 spot (35.86 million hours viewed), Season 1 of Ginny & Georgia (31.14 million hours viewed), That ‘90s Show (26.25 million hours viewed), Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla (25.12 million hours viewed) and Kaleidoscope (12.11 million hours viewed) all returned to the list. New entrants on the list included supernatural adventure series Lockwood & Co from Joe Cornish with 25.12 million hours viewed, the glitz and glamour crew of Bling Empire: New York with 14.28 million hours viewed, and Season 2 of reality baking series Bake Squad starring Christina Tosi with 13.04 million hours viewed.

Turkish fantasy drama series Shahmaran was #2 for the week and reached the Top 10 in over 50 countries. Korea’s The Glory and Alchemy of Souls (Part 2) kept fans entertained. Meanwhile, new titles include Spanish mystery The Snow Girl, Season 2 of Japanese anime Record of Ragnarok, Brazilian drama The Endless Night and Korean competition reality Physical 100.
