February 13, 2023

Globo and TelevisaUnivision have announced the closing of a three-year agreement that expands Globoplay’s distribution of content from the Spanish-language media and content company. The agreement allows Globoplay to premiere in Brazil both the productions of Mexican free-to-air channel las estrellas and ViX+, TelevisaUnivision’s streaming service aimed at the Hispanic market, as well as access to the library of television titles produced by Televisa. The expanded agreement strengthens the relationship between the companies, increasing the volume of content by TelevisaUnivision. Globoplay will now premiere at least four titles per year. “It is an honour to be able to unite the power of Globo’s telenovelas with those of TelevisaUnivision, an oasis for any fan of the genre. They are stories that became a reference in the affective memory of the public, classics that traveled the world and became history. This new agreement is one more step to consolidate the partnership with TelevisaUnivision and reinforces Globoplay’s already robust streaming catalogue, which includes original telenovelas, TV Globo classics and international telenovelas, guaranteeing access to the Brazilian audience, passionate about this type of content, quality and diversity of titles,” commented Teresa Penna, director of Globoplay and Digital Audiovisual Products.“After months of teamwork, it is a great pleasure to see the expansion of the reach of important international productions that carry the las estrellas and ViX+ brands, through a leading streaming platform such as Globoplay. We know that Brazilian audiences enjoy our shows and they identify and engage with our stories, which makes our star talents incredibly proud to be in front of this fantastic audience. Our content offering through this platform in Brazil is a new step in this long-term strategic collaboration between two leading media companies,” said Guillermo Borensztein, SVP Content Licensing and Co-Productions, TelevisaUnivision.
