Draken Film is the streaming Art house film service run by Gothenburg Film Festival. In parallel with the Gothenburg Film Festival 2023, they have launched the new hybrid concept for streaming and cinemas.

As the film industry prepares for its most difficult autumn yet, Göteborg Film Festival’s VoD service Draken Film launched an initiative to boost independent cinema and refresh existing business models. Already in 2021, during Corona, Gothenburg Film festival launched their first online film festival, and the year after a combined online and cinema festival, using Draken Film on the Magine Pro platform.

“The combined result was really great,” said Olle Agebro, Head of Draken Film. “And now by using data and insights from the last two years of online festivals we’ve been able to fine tune the business model and our marketing tactics, giving us a unique possibility to distribute our niche films to a wider audience.”

Draken Film’s subscribers will enjoy complementary cinema tickets to a curated selection of current releases as part of their monthly subscription offer.  With a cross-window subscription model Draken Film wants to encourage the audience to return to the cinemas again in a safe way, and see really good films.

Draken has been on the Magine Pro OTT platform since 2018 and has extended user experience and the number of platforms along the way.
