S4C, the public broadcaster and the only Welsh language television channel, has green-lit Y ‘Sgubor Flodau (The Flower Barn) and recommissioned (Cymry ar Gynfas) Welsh on Canvas from award-winning Cardiff based independent production company, Wildflame Productions.
Y ‘Sgubor Flodau (The Flower Barn), a 6 x 60 series, is a brand new original factual entertainment format. Each week in this warm and moving series we’ll learn about what motivates people to gift flowers, revealing stories that will make us laugh and cry.
The magic happens inside the ‘Sgubor Flodau’ (The Flower Barn), where our florists Wendy Davies, Donald Morgan and Gaby Davies are set the challenge to create beautiful, original bespoke arrangements. Host and ‘delivery driver’ Lloyd Lewis, greets each visitor to the Flower Barn to hear the reason behind their requests. From the glorious to the tragic, we’ll learn how saying it with flowers can help someone when they need a boost most.
We’ll meet Jayne and Wayne who lost their daughter Rhian to cervical cancer 10 years ago, and how the fund they set up in her memory has raised nearly a million pounds for Velindre Hospital in Cardiff. Our florist rise to the important challenge to create a beautiful self-seeding Forget-Me-Not memorial.
In West Wales, Ukrainian refugees who fled to Wales during the height of the hostilities and have now settled in the local community want to thank the people who gave them such a warm welcome with a spectacular wall of Sunflowers, the national flower of Ukraine.
