Sky acquires The Ark

April 17, 2023

Electric Entertainment, the LA-based production and distribution company, has announced that its original SYFY TV series The Ark has been sold to Sky in the UK. The deal includes all pay-TV rights.

Sonia Mehandjiyska, Head of International Distribution, Electric Entertainment, commented: “We’re happy that Sky TV and their audience continue to find the high entertainment value of our productions. Our long-lasting partnership proves that Electric Entertainment programming is diverse, boundaryless and really speaks to our neighbors across the pond.”

The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonisation missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One encounters a catastrophic event causing massive destruction and loss of life. With more than a year left to go before reaching their target planet, a lack of life-sustaining supplies and loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course and survive.

The 12-episode series debuted in the US on February 1st and was SYFY’s best series premiere among total viewers in two years.

The Ark has already been sold in Spain, France, Portugal, The Balkans, Romania, Poland and Germany.

The Ark will be available on Sky Sci-Fi from May 25th.
