The French AVoD and Fast TV market generated a total of €15 million in 2022, tripling its share compared to 2021.
According to a joint study by Médiamétrie and NPA Conseil, the 2023 revenues should be between €8 -€8.5 million, if the market remains stable.
The domestic French market is comprised of 292 FAST TV channels in French from 77 different operators. Eighteen of them represent 80 per cent of the total offering with production company Mediawan the top supplier; fifteen channels have been built upon titles owned by the group, either edited inhouse or by third-party partners such as Samsung TV Plus or Pluto TV.
Former pioneers like Alchimie have been bypassed by the market with a line-up that lacks mass appeal. Alchimie is set to cease its aggregating activities at the end of this year.
Médiamétrie and NPA Conseil also finding success in the AVoD and FAST market, with thirteen points won on the 15+ demo, peaking at 69 per cent among people aged 35-49 years-old.
The market also benefits from the growth Smart TVs, as 54 per cent of French households owned a connected television at the end of Q1 2023.
