ITV, BBC reveal Euros 2024 coverage schedule

December 7, 2023

ITV and the BBC have revealed their coverage plans for the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

UK television coverage of the tournament will kick-off on ITV [and STV in Scotland] on June 14th with exclusive live coverage of the opening match between hosts Germany and Scotland in Munich. ITV will show England’s final Group game against Slovenia and will have picks one, two and three of the Round of 16 as well as first pick of the Semi-finals. ITV will also cover the winner of Play-off A, which could be Wales, against Austria, in Group D on 21 June.

ITV will show what is likely to be one of the most anticipated early tournament games – the Group B match between Spain, who are among the favourites, and Italy, the holders. ITV’s Group stage coverage includes games featuring many pundits’ favourites, France [against Austria on June 17th] as well as other heavy-hitters in Portugal [v Turkey on June 22nd], Croatia [v Spain on June 15th] and Belgium [v Slovakia on June 17th].

Moving into the knockout rounds, ITV will have the first three picks, plus the fifth and seventh picks from the Round of 16 ties, the second and fourth Quarter-final picks and first pick of the Semi-finals. Both ITV and the BBC will show the Final.

All ITV games will be shown on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player.

Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said: “Following the draw, we can now begin to look forward to next summer’s Euros in Germany and we’re delighted to be able to bring viewers what should be a flying start to the tournament with the opening match between Scotland and the hosts. We have first picks of the Round of 16 and the Semi-finals and with England among the favourites, we hope to be able to bring viewers their biggest moments from what could be an historic tournament for them. We’ll be announcing our comprehensive coverage plans in full in the lead-up to next June with the aim of bringing viewers the very best of Euro 2024.”

The BBC will show England’s first two group games against Serbia (June 16th) and Denmark (June 20th) and Scotland’s group games against Switzerland (June 19th) and Hungary (June 23rd).

The BBC also have first choice of the Quarter-finals and will also show live games featuring some of the biggest teams in Europe including Italy, World Cup runners-up France versus the Netherlands (June 21st), Spain, Belgium and Portugal plus two group games featuring the hosts Germany.

Should Wales qualify from the playoffs, the BBC will also broadcast their group games against France and the Netherlands.

Philip Bernie, BBC Head of TV Sport, said: “With the UEFA European Championships, the Paris Olympics and Wimbledon all on the BBC next year, our summer of sport promises to be very memorable. In addition to live games featuring all the tournament favourites, we are very pleased to have two games each for England and Scotland in the group stages, and we hope to add two more for Wales if they qualify too. We’re proud that the BBC will once again bring audiences comprehensive coverage and analysis of the whole event across TV, radio and online, ensuring fans, wherever they are, can enjoy it all.”
