Arte acquires yes Studio’s Bloody Murray
February 5, 2024
Bloody Murray, the winner of Best Comedy at Series Mania in 2022, has found a new home with Arte, thanks to the latest collaboration between the broadcaster and yes Studios. The deal sees the 9 x 25’ series renamed Dana & Murray for launch on arte.tv on February 9th.
This brilliant comedy from yes Studios focuses on the relationship between best friends and roommates Murray and Dana, and their daily struggles as single, thirty-something women.
Dana is a gynaecologist and Murray a film lecturer specialising in romantic comedies. Their lives change when Murray flees the scene of a hit and run, and the man she crashed in to, Lior, shows up at her apartment – where he meets Dana and the two fall madly in love. However, Murray soon realises that she has her own feelings for Lior. Lonely, and taking a cue from her work and the tropes of the romantic comedies she knows so well, Murray convinces herself that Lior is actually meant for her. After all, everyone knows that romcoms never start with love at first sight…
Bloody Murray has also previously been sold to CBC in Canada. A second season is in development following a re-commission by yes TV. The series was created and written by Stav Idisis and produced by yes TV and Kastina Communications. yes Studios represents the completed series and format worldwide.
Sharon Levi, managing director at yes Studios comments: “We are pleased to have extended our relationship with Arte by concluding a deal for this entertaining comedy. With its wonderfully drawn characters, light touch, and all the feelgood fun and wit of a romcom, we expect that this delightful series will prove a big hit with Arte audiences.”
