Two Brother’s The Assassin coming to Prime Video; Grand Tour finale

Prime Video will launch writing duo Harry and Jack Williams’ new drama series The Assassin in the UK & Ireland. The series is produced by production company Two Brothers Pictures (The Tourist, Boat Story, Fleabag) in association with ZDF who is the German co-production partner, All3Media International, and Stan in Australia.

Starring in the 6×60” series, is Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard, Scoop), Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor, Bates Motel), who each serve as Executive Producers, with Gina Gershon (Riverdale, New Amsterdam),  Shalom Brune-Franklin (The Tourist, Baby Reindeer), Jack Davenport (The Morning Show, Pirates of the Caribbean), Alan Dale (Dynasty, Lost) Gerald Kyd (The Swarm, The Split), Devon Terrell (Totally Completely Fine, Cursed), Richard Dormer (Blue Lights, Game of Thrones) and David Dencik (The Ipcress File, No Time To Die). Further cast will be announced in due course.

Secluded on a remote Greek island, retired assassin Julie (Hawes) has a somewhat thorny reunion with her estranged son, Edward (Highmore), visiting from England. Armed with questions around new information on his paternity, Edward battles to find the right time to speak to his frustratingly distant mother. But, when the moment finally presents itself, things take a deadly turn as Julie’s dangerous past catches up with her and they are forced to flee the island and go on the run together.

Edward’s quest for truth clashes with Julie’s secrecy whilst they are forced to work together in a fight for survival, testing their dysfunctional relationship to its limits. Amid uncovering a dark conspiracy they believe to be their only threat, a greater danger emerges that will destroy their relationship entirely. In a race against time, Julie fights to save Edward and salvage their relationship as past and present collide in a showdown across the globe…

The Assassin is a Two Brothers Pictures (an All3Media company) production for Prime Video, in association with All3Media International, ZDF and Stan. The series has been written and created by Harry and Jack Williams with Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve, Sweetpea), Hamish Wright (Significant Other) – who serve as executive producers – and Selina Lim (Sex Education) also writing. Sarah Hammond (The Tourist, Boat Story) and Daisy Mount (Wilderness, The Rig) serve as executive producers for Two Brothers Pictures, and Hawes and Highmore also serving as executive producers. Nige Watson (One Day) is producer with Lisa Mulcahy (The Tourist) directing episodes 1-3 and Daniel Nettheim (The Tourist) directing episodes 4-6. Kelly Valentine Hendry (Bridgerton) and Jessica Mescall (Mary & George) serve as casting directors. Faliro House Productions are the Greek service company.

Prime Video has also announced that the final episode of The Grand Tour: One for the Road filmed in Zimbabwe and featuring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, will launch exclusively on Prime Video on September 13th.

In their last adventure, the trio ignore the instructions of Mr Wilman and head to Zimbabwe in three cars they’ve always wanted to own, a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag, for a stunning road trip through beautiful and sometimes challenging landscapes leading to an emotional ending on a strangely familiar island.
