September 5, 2024

Viasat World, the independent international media company, has announced its new crime-themed television channel, Viasat True Crime, will launch in Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia on September 17th.

Following the launch of Viasat True Crime in Poland with Canal+ earlier this year, Viasat World has partnered with operator partners, Vodafone in Czechia, where the new channel will be included together with Epic Drama in the Family and AllinOne packages, as well as T-Mobile Czech Republic who will include the new channel in the MAGENTA TV L and XL packages. In Slovakia, Slovak Telekom will include Viasat True Crime in the Magio TV, Voľný čas package together with Epic Drama, and Swan.  In Slovenia, T-2 Slovenia will include Viasat True Crime in the extended basic tier package – all operators will launch the new channel on September 17th.  In Croatia, Viasat True Crime will soon launch on Croatian Telecom’s TV platforms.

Viasat True Crime focuses exclusively on true crime programming, including marquee documentaries of shocking real-life cases, true crime drama series, and crime-fighting reality shows.

Benjamin Groocock, CEO for Viasat World says: “We’re incredibly proud to be launching Viasat True Crime to audiences across Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia. We’ve responded quickly to its successful launch in Poland earlier this year to showcase our new channel to more audiences. Its popularity lies in its unique, comprehensive mix of true crime-based scripted drama, factual documentaries, and real-life crime-fighting shows. With more launches of the channel already planned in new territories for the coming months, including Croatia, we’re thrilled that Viasat True Crime has already undergone such an accelerated growth trajectory.”

“The popularity of TV programmes with the true crime genre has been growing for a long time, especially amongst our Czech and Slovak customers. We are happy that we can expand the complete range of Viasat World TV channels with the very latest one, Viasat True Crime. Thanks to the new channel, viewers of Magenta TV and Magio TV will have access to even more exciting documentaries, series and films, as well as a selection of 150 hours of the best Viasat True Crime in our Video library and Magio Kino,” added Zdeněk Spurný, manager of TV and partner development at T-Mobile.

From launch, Viasat True Crime will include documentaries on high-profile cases including; The Moors Murders (Abacus Media Rights), BTK: Confessions of a Serial Killer (A&E Networks), The Rapist’s Journal (Viaplay), Soham Catching A Killer (ITV Studios), The Clown and the Candyman (Cineflix Rights) and The Real Serpent: Investigating a Serial Killer (Abacus Media Rights); true crime series including Murder Uncut and Killer Cases (from Cineflix Rights); reality crime-fighting shows, such as Prison Down Under (Fred Media); alongside drama productions based on true events including; The Hunt For A Killer and The Sixth Commandement (from Banijay Rights).
