Arqiva, System73 streaming partnership

September 6, 2024

Media services provider Arqiva has enhanced its portfolio of streaming services with the addition of new broadcast optimisation capability.

Provided in collaboration with System73, the new service offerings for optimisation, QoE analytics and seamless CDN switching aim to reduce the delivery cost, latency, environmental impact and viewer satisfaction issues that come with the increasing requirement of content owners to deliver traffic over the internet, all while increasing quality of experience.

The new service will utilise System73’s Data Logistics Platform, a centrally orchestrated P2P network and transportation optimisation model which identifies the best routes to deliver the highest bitrates to edge devices. The service has the potential to reduce reliance on physical CDNs for up to 80 per cent of traffic, which can lower data centre energy consumption by the same percentage.

“Three needs come to the fore when we talk to customers about delivering streaming media. Quality of experience, cost efficiencies and lowering carbon emissions. By enhancing our sector experience, valued partner status and existing streaming portfolio with System73 capabilities, we believe we’ve found a sweet spot with a scalable and sustainable solution to meet all three of those needs. We will be able to ensure content is delivered consistently, at exceptional quality, at reasonable cost with the lowest environmental impact, all underpinned by the reassurance of Arqiva’s 24/7 x 365 managed service capabilities,” commented Dom Wedgwood, CTO at Arqiva.

“We are thrilled to partner with Arqiva, combining our cutting-edge technology with their extensive infrastructure and expertise in the broadcast and communications space. Together, we are creating new possibilities for sustainable, high-quality live streaming solutions with infinite scalability. This partnership enables us to deliver exceptional performance and reliability to global audiences while driving innovation and reducing the complexity and cost of content delivery. We believe this collaboration will set a new standard in the industry and open doors to exciting opportunities for both of our companies,” added Jonathan Gibson, CRO, System73.
