SportsGrid premieres LatiNation Media’s Golazo Today series
September 12, 2024
SportsGrid FAST Channel and LatiNation Media have announced a sports content alliance encompassing production and strategic brand initiatives premiering with the weekly soccer program Golazo Today. The half-hour English-language series, hosted by sports anchor Francisco X. Rivera, will stream on SportsGrid every Friday, and the original episodes will be simulcasted on LatiNation Media’s LATV broadcast channel and digital platforms this autumn.
A leader in Gen Z and Millennial Hispanic audiences, LatiNation Media will represent the series to its agency and brand clients for in-programme and app opportunities. The LatiNation Media audience represents the new generation of sports super-fans, with soccer being one of the most leaned-into sports for the Latine generation.
“Sports is no longer a sit-back and watch experience. Fans want an in-game engagement with Francisco as their guide to provide viewers with key game updates and real-time news, scores, odds & lines on futbol. We are excited to collaborate with SportsGrid to provide our Latine audience an authentic approach to sports, starting with futbol. It is a sport that has reverence and tremendous influence within the Latino community,” said Andres Palencia, CEO, LatiNation Media.
“The premiere of Golazo Today is a powerful combination of Latin and SportsGrid engaging the passionate futbol fans with an entertaining, innovative, and action-packed coverage of the most popular sport experience,” added Charles Theiss, SportsGrid Chief Media Officer. “With compelling storytelling across the SportsGrid streaming platforms and LATV’s broadcast channel’s well-positioned, we look forward to our continued collaboration.”
On Golazo Today, Rivera welcomes soccer experts, legends, professionals, and influential coaches to the programme to talk futbol fandom and provide comprehensive news updates and analysis on the key matches and players driving the sport. Golazo Today will also offer the latest in team stats, player lineups, and injury reports – everything needed for a fan to choose a team, match, or player.
“In a recent report, a striking 72 per cent of Latino fans are Gen Z or Millenial, compared to just 50 per cent of US sports fans. 40 per cent of LatiNation’s audience, across our broadcast and streaming platforms, are likely to watch sports programmes or highlights compared to general audiences,” added Gisella Fu-Ripp, SVP of Sales, LatiNation Media. “This exclusive partnership is a game-changer for brands targeting Hispanic sports enthusiasts, extending beyond soccer to embrace their diverse interests. Telco, Auto, and QSR categories are capitalising on this opportunity after the upfront.”
