Amagi, LeadStory, Samsung partner on FAST news channel

October 15, 2024

Amagi, a specialist in cloud-based SaaS technology for broadcast and connected TV (CTV), has announced its collaboration with Samsung TV Plus and news publisher LeadStory to launch a personalised FAST channel, built on a patent-pending technology from Amagi.

The new offering, Your News Channel by LeadStory; was initially launched in Australia and New Zealand. It allows viewers to curate their news experience by selecting their preferred news categories and filtering out topics they’d rather avoid. The feature is powered by the Amagi NOW SaaS platform.

“Amagi is delighted to be collaborating with LeadStory and Samsung TV Plus on this pioneering initiative,” said Srinivasan KA, Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer at Amagi. “This partnership showcases the future of FAST: FAST 2.0, where the FAST experience becomes tailor-made for every consumer. We’re proud to be at the heart of this initiative, which is redefining how content is consumed and setting new benchmarks for the future of FAST channels.”

Ed Love, Head of Business Development, Samsung TV Plus, commented: “Given our audience’s strong demand for live and local news, enhancing our partnership with LeadStory through an additional channel is a logical step. This channel’s emphasis on personalising news feeds for Samsung TV Plus aligns perfectly with the global trend we’re seeing toward tailored content.”

The Your News channel aggregates video news content from several news publishers, including CNN, CNBC, Reuters, Euronews, and Network Ten, into a one-hour rolling feed.

“This is a transformational moment for broadcast news,” added Cam Price, Co-Founder and CEO of LeadStory. “We’re following in the footsteps of platforms like Netflix and TikTok to create a personalised experience for each viewer. It’s time viewers were empowered with choice regarding their news bulletins.”

LeadStory was co-founded by former Channel Seven journalist Price and software engineer Cheyne Wallace (formerly of UpGuard and Airtasker) in 2021. The platform reaches more than 7 million people every month through its channels on Samsung TV Plus, Rakuten and LG Channels.
