Germany: SPORT1 retains Bundesliga package
December 5, 2024

SPORT1 will remain the free-TV home of Sunday Bundesliga in Germany after acquiring a package of rights that includes the exclusive highlight rights on free-TV and the simulcast live stream on SPORT1.de and SPORT1 app offering summaries of the Friday and Saturday Bundesliga games for subsequent viewing on Sunday between 6am and 3pm.
The highlights of all Friday and Saturday games will also be shown from 2025/26 to 2028/29 on Sunday mornings and afternoons in Bundesliga Pur and on Doppelpass – the popular football talk show that will celebrate its 30th birthday in 2025.
Dr Matthias Kirschenhofer, Co-CEO of Sport1 Medien AG and Managing Director of Sport1, commented: ”We are proud to remain partner of the Bundesliga after more than 30 years of trustful cooperation. Today’s success marks an extremely important milestone and strengthens soccer as core sports right in our programme strategy. We would like to thank the DFL for the many years of successful cooperation – and the entire SPORT1 team for their extraordinary and passionate commitment.”
Annika Rody, Director Media Rights of Sport1, added: “SPORT1 will remain right in the middle of it all and a proud partner of the Bundesliga. The focus is on our Doppelpass: Germany’s No. 1 soccer talk show celebrates its anniversary in the 2025/26 season and will remain our flagship in the future. We will continue our innovative reporting with our 30-year Bundesliga tradition in the interests of soccer fans.”
