December 11, 2024

Sky Italia will remain the exclusive home of The X Factor in Italy after it signed a new two-year contract extension to its current deal with Fremantle following the 2024 edition.
This new deal with Fremantle means Sky will broadcast two more X Factor editions where the 2024 final of the Sky Original show, produced by Fremantle, on Sky, NOW and TV8, reached the highest ratings in the last four years, with an average of 1,765,000 viewers – an increase of 51 per cent compared to last season. Total TV share reached 8.6 per cent from 4,717,000 unique TV contacts.
The final of The X Factor 2024 took place in Naples and was the first-ever outdoor event in the international history of The X Factor, where it crowned the young and talented Mimì Caruso as the winner, with a special live apperance from Robbie Williams, performing his latest single Forbidden Road to over 16,000 spectators.
Overall, the 2024 edition closed with an average of 2.4 million viewers over seven days on Sky and TV8 (growth of 22 per cent vs compared to last edition) making The X Factor 2024 the best of the last four seasons in Italy. On social media, the figures are equally resounding, with the 2024 edition reaching over 57 million social interactions (up +27 per cent vs 2023 edition) and 1,618,000,000 organic views gathered by the entire edition (up 208 per cent vs 2023).
Antonella d’Errico, Executive Vice President Content Sky Italia, commented: “Sky is continually pushing boundaries for our customers who demand and expect the best world leading formats such as X Factor. We couldn’t be prouder of the 2024 edition which we redefined from its core, enhancing its entertainment essence and quality. And the finale marked an historic turning point for the series, bringing this music competition outdoor to the iconic Piazza del Plebiscito in Napoli. This new deal, bringing ahead our solid partnership with Fremantle, allows us to guarantee that Sky’s subscribers continue to get unequalled access to one of Italy’s most loved entertainment shows and we strongly believe these next exciting editions will also broaden its appeal to attract new audiences and fans.”
Marco Tombolini, CEO of Fremantle Italy, added: “This extension confirms our long-standing and thriving creative partnership with Sky where we will continue in our shared ambition to make X Factor even bigger and better. We look forward to producing more world-class entertainment shows for a further two years, and always looking to find new ways together of engaging audiences by pursuing quality and using innovative cutting-edge technologies and content.”
