Future Chicken on YouTube Kids
January 21, 2025
Future Chicken is a multi-platform climate education initiative created to counter the climate ‘doomism’ and eco-anxiety many young people experience today. Featuring a variety of entertaining and educational experiences geared for kids aged 6 to 10, Future Chicken uses humour and positivity to create a vibrant, engaging story universe that not only entertains but also inspires and fosters hope for the future.
The content follows the adventures of the time-travelling, eco-hero Future Chicken, who journeys back and forth between present day and the year 2050. Through her time-traveling journeys, Future Chicken demonstrates how the small actions we take today can create a better, more sustainable future. Alongside her diverse team of lovable Planet Protectors – including an electric catfish fascinated by fascinators, a joke-cracking egg with rocket pants for flight, a soil connoisseur worm, and an eco-detective mushroom with a passion for cyclical regeneration – Future Chicken helps kids realise that even small steps can lead to positive and lasting change for the planet.
This meaningful initiative is the result of a collaboration between two visionary Canadian media leaders— Annabel Slaight, founding chair of the ClearWater Foundation educational charity and co-founder of the widely acclaimed OWL Kids empire, and Catherine Winder, CEO of Wind Sun Sky Entertainment Inc. Winder, a multi-platform brand-builder and entrepreneur who has worked with filmmakers and visionaries such as George Lucas to adapt iconic properties including Star Wars: Clone Wars, Angry Birds, Ice Age, and Invincible.
“Launching Future Chicken on YouTube Kids marks a pivotal moment for the brand and our mission to reshape how children engage with environmental issues,” said Winder. “We are truly honoured to be featured in the YouTube Kids’ app, and to leverage the strength of their global platform to inspire more children to become the change-makers our planet needs.”
The initial content featured on YouTube Kids will include: ‘Ecotainment’ shorts about the good things happening today having a positive impact on the future; The Future Chicken Today Show, where Future Chicken interviews real-life celebs, activists, scientists, and kids who are passionate about protecting the planet; a new series of comedy shorts called Chicken In; and a fun new Future Chicken Theme song and video.
Future Chicken can also be found on Roblox; through its interactive website, and on Spotify, Apple, and Realm/Pinna with its podcast Future Chicken Squawkarama: A Planet Positive Podcast.
