For a second year running, ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player will be the exclusive UK home of the Oscars ceremony. ITV will premiere the 97th Oscars ceremony and red carpet coverage, offering a night of free-to-air programming across both ITV1 and ITVX, along with a reange of Oscars-themed content and added behind-the-scenes extras.
The 96th Oscars ceremony in 2024 proved a hit with UK audiences, with coverage across ITV1 and ITVX reaching a combined 5.2 million viewers.
Key highlights for 2025 include:
- Exclusive Coverage on ITV1 and ITVX: For the first time, the Oscars red carpet will be broadcast live across both ITV1 and ITVX, with expert hosts providing seamless access to the arrivals of the 97th Oscars nominees, Hollywood’s biggest stars and VIP guests as they make their entrance to the ceremony.
- Free-to-Air Access: The 97th Oscars ceremony and red carpet coverage returns to ITV1 and ITVX and will be available completely free-to-air.
- Jonathan Ross Returns: Renowned film enthusiast and broadcaster Jonathan Ross will return to host ITV’s coverage of the Oscars, bringing UK audiences closer to the action with live commentary, special celebrity guests and film experts, and live chats with all the stars on the red carpet.
On the night itself, viewers can join Ross live on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player as he hosts a special show bringing all of Hollywood’s action to UK viewers, including live coverage of the Oscars red carpet with Ross King broadcasting directly from the event at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, followed by the awards ceremony which begins at midnight.
Prior to the night, ITV and ITVX will deliver a raft of Oscars-themed programming with Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women and ITV News all covering the latest Oscars news and build up.
Viewers can also enjoy a wealth of exclusive content on ITVX, including unseen behind-the-scenes footage, nominee packages, Oscar-winning film collections (including Must Watch Films hosted by Ross), and updates from the red carpet – all in one place. The exclusive Oscars 24/7 Channel will feature Oscar-winning and nominated movies celebrating the best of past winners and contenders including the likes of Gone Girl, L.A.
