Sky Arts bringing National Theatre productions to TV

Sky Arts, the free-to-air channel, is set to air four acclaimed National Theatre Live productions.

For over 15 years, National Theatre Live has been a pioneer in bringing British theatre to communities around the world. Since its inception, the initiative has released over 100 titles, reaching over 13 million people across 74 countries.

Coming to Sky Arts for their television premieres are:

Othello, February 18th – A new production of Shakespeare’s most enduring tragedy, directed by Clint Dyer with a cast that includes Giles Terera (Hamilton), Rosy McEwen (The Alienist), and Paul Hilton (The Inheritance).

The Crucible, February 25th – A witch hunt is beginning in Arthur Miller’s captivating parable of power with Erin Doherty (The Crown) and Brendan Cowell (Yerma). Lyndsey Turner (Hamlet) directs this contemporary new staging filmed live at the National Theatre.

Frankenstein, March 4th (Jonny Lee Miller as the Creature) and March 11th (Benedict Cumberbatch as the Creature) – Written by Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley. Directed by Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire), featuring Benedict Cumberbatch (Hamlet, BBC’s Sherlock) and Jonny Lee Miller (Elementary, Trainspotting).

The productions will all be available on Sky Arts, Freeview and streaming service NOW.
