Sweden: Viacom, Paramount mobile deal

June 18, 2018

Viacom has confirmed a first mobile distribution deal for Paramount+ – an agreement with Telenor to make the video streaming product available as a premium service to its mobile subscribers in Sweden as part of its new ‘Telenor Stream Film och Serier’ streaming service.

The deal is the first Viacom has signed to make Paramount+ available to mobile subscribers, following its successful launch in the last quarter of 2017 as an STB and TV Everywhere application available to higher tier subscribers of a number of pay TV operators across Scandinavia.

Paramount+ is a new video-on-demand concept, combining the exclusive first pay TV window for new Paramount Pictures movie releases, with classic titles from the Paramount library and more than 800 episodes of MTV and Comedy Central content including Geordie Shore and South Park.

Andrea Sahlgren, General Manager for Viacom’s operations in the Nordics, commented: “Scandinavia is one of the world’s most advanced video markets, with rocketing demand amongst younger audiences for on-the-go, as well as on-demand, access to their favourite TV shows and movies. We’re delighted to be partnering with Telenor to allow mobile subscribers access to the fantastic range of premium content available through Paramount+ for the first time, without the need for an additional pay TV subscription.”
