O’Sullivan joins Deutsche Telekom

Former senior BSkyB executive Gerry O’Sullivan is to lead the global IPTV operations for German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom.

O’Sullivan was previously Sky’s director of strategic product development, claiming responsibility for Sky+ HD and for pioneering 3DTV in the UK until he left the company in 2010. Prior to Sky, he was Vice President of Operations and Engineering at Fox News Channel, and previously Director of Operations and Engineering – Channel Launch at Dow Jones/ITT, WBIS+, New York.

At Deutsche Telekom, O’Sullivan’s title will be vice president global TV and entertainment, in charge of growing Deutsche Telecom’s existing IPTV business both in Germany, Europe’s largest TV market, and beyond.

Deutsche Telekom currently has 1.2 million IPTV subscribers in Germany and another 650,000 in several other Eastern European countries, including Hungary and Croatia.
