Bausch readies to step down

March 12, 2014

roman-bauschThis past few days has seen SES president and CEO Romain Bausch start the public handover to his successor Karim Michel Sabbagh. Sabbagh, who has been a director at SES since April 2011, is currently ‘president designate’ and has been shadowing Bausch for the past four or five months, and has been visible at the annual Satellite 2014 show in Washington DC. He has been making the key decisions behind the scenes since January as part of the transition process. Sabbagh has been alongside Bausch for all of the key meetings in Washington, and was formally introduced to the press during the show.

With these events on the schedule, it will also mean that Washington will represent Bausch’s final public appearance as he winds down to the formal handover to Sabbagh on April 3rd.

But Bausch’s farewell from the Washington event saw him awarded with some charming souvenirs from Eutelsat’s CEO Michel de Rosen, and a slew of complements from Bausch’s fellow panellists, as well as a very warm standing ovation from the 9,000 delegates to the show.
