Ex-BBC head opens media consultancy

January 12, 2015

The former Head of BBC Motion Gallery, the BBC’s commercial archive, has set up a new media consultancy to take advantage of the growing demand for digitised online video content.

Kite Media is the brainchild of BBC Worldwide business director Paul Maidment and aims to provide clear commercial expertise and advice to both content owners and licensors to help them better understand how to produce and digitise content as well as license and distribute it.

“As the production, distribution and license of moving images continues to grow, there’s an increased need for organisations to deliver value from their content collections,” said Maidment, who becomes the Kite Media’s Director.  “Many companies look for video material but don’t know where to go. At the same time, technology companies are working more closely with corporations to deliver solutions in content management and digitisation. The job of Kite Media is to provide these companies with the knowledge and know-how to help them grow the business in this space.”
