Viaplay selects Unified Streaming to optimise Scandinavian viewer experience

Nordic OTT service Viaplay has chosen Unified Streaming, a provider of cross-platform video-streaming technologies, to help optimise its viewer experience across Scandinavia.

Viaplay delivers SVoD, TVoD, EST, PPV, live sports and over 120 channels for TV Everywhere. Thanks to the Stockholm headquartered company, Scandinavians can now enjoy world-class sports year-round in the climate-controlled comfort of their own homes. This includes broadcasts from the Olympic Games, the Champions League, Formula 1, La Liga, the LPGA, the NHL, the Premiere League, Serie A and the UFC.

Using Unified Origin lets Viaplay fully utilise its content and support its multi-CDN strategy. A strong and highly flexible solution is found in the storage of just one format and packaging on-the-fly to DASH, HLS and MSS with full DRM protection. This reduces storage volumes, enables fast implementation of format-related changes and gives Viaplay the possibility to target its AV features to specific devices.

The integration of Unified Origin offers Viaplay the possibility to add start and end parameters for live events, which means improved AV handling at a single event and quick turnaround of clips published on the sports news site.
