US switchover delay looks likely

January 26, 2009

The long awaited switch from analogue to digital television broadcasting in the US is on the verge of being pushed back from February 17th to June 12th amid concerns regarding the preparedness of consumers.

"The shameful truth is that we are not poised to do this transition right," commented Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John D. Rockefeller who authored the delay bill. "We are only weeks away from doing it dreadfully wrong," he warned, " and leaving consumers with the consequences."
