Vimond Has Become a Certified Widevine™ Implementation Partner

April 11, 2012

Vimond Media Solutions announced that it has successfully completed the training program with Google and has become a certified Widevine™ implementation partner (CWIP). As a CWIP, Vimond is able to integrate Google’s Widevine DRM technology into its range of video OTT services, enabling its customers to protect and distribute content across multiple platforms and Internet-connected devices. Widevine is deployed on more than 365 million devices, including 250 million televisions, Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, and game consoles, and Vimond is one of the first CWIPs in the Nordic market with practical experience deploying services.

“We are very happy to expand our relationship with Google for the use of Widevine,” said Helge Høibraaten, CEO of Vimond. “This is a technology we know well and have implemented before, and we believe it will be used more as connected devices become more popular and content becomes more ubiquitous.”

As a result of the partnership, Vimond customers can opt to deploy a resilient DRM technology in their Vimond-enabled services, available on mobile devices or in their living rooms.

To be a CWIP, all vendors must take the CWIP certification courses and pass the certification test. Vimond employees have been certified to install, integrate, maintain, and support Widevine software, with refresher courses planned to maintain and expand certification.

Vimond’s services, with integrated Widevine DRM technology, will be on display at the 2012 NAB Show in booth SL10711.
