Murdoch ditches Deng

Rupert Murdoch has filed for divorce from his third wife, Wendy Deng. The 82 year old says in New York court filing the relationship has irrevocably broken down. The pair have been married for 14 years and his wife gained notoriety in 2011 when she robustly defended her husband from a pie attack while he was giving testimony to an MP’s committee.
The move, which will doubtless prove expensive, comes on the eve of the formal split of News Corp into two companies. Murdoch’s second divorce from the mother of James, Lachlan and Elizabeth, cost $1.7 billion. It will also complicate further what are reported to be contentious inheritance issues with the two daughters from the latest marriage.
Murdoch and Deng met in 1998 when she was an exec at his Star TV.
