AOL renews four original web series

AOL will renew four of its original web series for The AOL On Network, the company’s premium video platform. The shows returning for a second season include “City.Ballet.” from executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker, as well as the popular technology-themed shows “Hardwired” and “The Future Starts Here.”
Additionally, “#CandidlyNicole,” starring social media maven Nicole Richie, will return for a second season later this Autumn. It was previously announced that a longer format version of the show has been ordered straight to series at VH1. The second season of the AOL series will feature original, stand-alone content, separate from the topics and episodes airing on VH1.
In their first season, these four series combined received more than 75 million views.
“Of the fifteen AOL Originals announced at the 2013 Digital Content NewFronts, these four shows have consistently ranked in our top five with regard to number of unique viewers,” said Charles Gabriel, SVP, Global Video Sales. “The tremendous success these series have seen is comparable to unscripted shows on cable making them an incredibly attractive offering for advertisers. We’re continuing to prove that there is no difference between TV and the web – in the eyes of the consumer, it’s all just video.”
