Intertrust Technologies Corporation, a global layer in trusted distributed computing technologies, has announced the launch of Intertrust Modulus platform, a security and rights management platform for cloud-based data sets that allows companies to build data-driven business models around their IoT and other data.
Fine-grained, secure digital policy and rights management for access control and governance
Intertrust Modulus is a security and rights management layer that sits on top of cloud computing services to derive value from sensor and customer generated data. Using Modulus, companies can build data-driven businesses around their data, within their companies and with their partners and customers, with the comfort that risks are well managed. Modulus works with any cloud platform providing neutral interoperability between clouds and across enterprises.
“For years, enterprises have sought to leverage cloud-based data sets to create value, only to be constrained by security concerns,” said Talal G. Shamoon, Intertrust chief executive officer. “As cloud computing and IoT systems make more data available for monetization, security and data rights management have become critical to interoperability. Modulus provides the necessary link that solves this problem.”
While Modulus users can build their own applications on the platform, Intertrust also provides Modulus Native Application Frameworks™ for the energy, healthcare, and retail/marketing verticals, with frameworks for the automotive and smart home IoT coming soon. Modulus adopters can use these frameworks and can add their own analytics, which Modulus will secure.
Intertrust is working with German energy giant innogy on three applications based on Modulus: to power its data-driven business models for smart home IoT, to allow power grid data interoperability, and to manage data sets from renewable energy installations.
“Energy companies must embrace digital transformation and data-driven business models, or face an existential crisis,” said Florian Kolb, Managing Director innogy New Ventures. “As electron prices drop, we must harness the digital events that electrons drive for enhanced revenue. Modulus is a unique and powerful platform that allows us to protect and manage our data while monetizing with our partners and customers.”
Modulus extends Intertrust’s product offerings in secure systems and media digital rights management. Today, with the proliferation of security threats and data breaches and rapidly evolving digital privacy laws, Intertrust products are more critical than ever. Intertrust Personagraph is a customer data platform built on Modulus that allows monetization of customer data for marketing and advertising applications with support for GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and user privacy considerations. Its secure systems products for authentication and software tamper resistance protect apps that can report trusted first party data to Modulus and protect customer information and sensitive information in any setting.
