Mediaset dropping DTT distribution

April 30, 2019

From Branislav Pekic in Rome

Italian broadcaster Mediaset has announced it will stop broadcasting its pay-TV service Premium on digital terrestrial from June 1st.

Distribution will continue via its premium online platform Infinity.

Following the progressive scaling down of Mediaset Premium and the loss of the sports channels, the service has become less appealing to potential subscribers. This means that Sky Italia will remain as the only pay-TV platform available on DTT (besides satellite) in Italy.

At the same time, the Premium Play on demand service will also cease transmission.

Following the review of the contractual agreements, the DAZN streaming sports service will no longer be included in the Premium su Infinity service as of June 1st.

Customers who do not agree with the change of the contractual conditions can cancel their subscription, at no cost, before May 31st.

After a 10-day free tasting period, the Premium Infinity service will cost €7.99 per month.
