Globecast in South Africa selects TestTree monitoring solution

September 8, 2022

TestTree, Video QoS & QoE solutions by 24/7 monitoring for the studio, broadband IPTV/OTT/CATV and broadcast DTTV/DTH networks, is pleased to announce the deployment of its StreamProbe and EdgeProbe products by Globecast in South Africa.Globecast provides a wide range of media services, including distribution, from the studio down to the final customer through satellite and fiber links, as well as Head-End media processing (encoding, multiplexing…) for several broadcasters and content providers in South Africa (MultiChoice, SABC, e.TV, OpenView HD…).

StreamProbe SW solution supervises video quality at strategic points throughout the video flow to ensure the different media processing stages are not degrading service availability nor the content’s quality. The overall service quality is visible at the NOC (Network Operation Center) in the form of an Image Thumbnails Mosaic on multi-screen displays. Real-time alerting capabilities allow quick fault detection, while the detailed monitoring views enable drill-down fault investigation; with the objective of decreasing incident downtime and thus maximizing overall service availability.EdgeProbe HW ensures final output quality control at the point signals leave Globecast, promising transmission integrity and stability.Brent Waller, Information Systems and Fibre Manager, Globecast in South Africa, said, “We ultimately chose TestTree as our IP Broadcast monitoring system as it provides us with the most cost effective and efficient way to monitor our IP service for our own consumption and that of our clients’ DTH platforms.”“We are very pleased to be working with Globecast in South Africa” said Didier Farcy, VP-Sales EMEA for ENENSYS/TestTree. “We provide the means for Globecast to monitor the quality of all content, from reception at the teleport, SDI or IP, to the transmission of the processed content on TSoIP towards Globecast’s customers. We check in real-time not only the availability of the channels but also the video quality itself and raise alarms as soon as an error occurs avoiding bad quality at the customer level. This ensures a fast detection of the faulty content or equipment.”
